Service providers
Service providers - IntroductionThe concept of using service providers is not new, many councils and others have been doing this for some time, likewise the concept of commissioning by organizations is not new, many charities and non profit organizations in particular, make a lot of use of commissioning tasks to be performed by others. Prior to 2000, tasks were sub contracted to service companies and others, but it was not until 2000 that the New Atlantis family got heavily into commissioning the provision of all services across all clubs and organizations, this had the major benefits of more being achievable and more specialization and shared help, rather than duplicated effort. NAISC was set up initially to coordinate service providers and arrangements. The development of the new economic model has just taken this to the next level, with a wider range of commissioning, more entities being packaged as consortiums, who beside utilizing the service of service providers, will also be themselves service providers, and a central barter currency to allow all this to happen and all to be rewarded for their effort. The role of NAISC has also changed slightly, previously most of what was undertaken by NAISC was in fact commissioned from service providers rather than done by NAISC itself. Logically if the philosophy was sound it equally was beneficial to NAISC as any other member of the family. Now NAISC has its role designed more in line with this, and it is expected to franchise some roles and commission other activities. In line with this the range of responsibilities it has been given has grown to include not only service provision but the New Atlantis Trusts and Trust Partnerships, joint venture consortiums and the bartering and other exchanges. In total around a third of the total activities of New Atlantis families now are supervised and organized through NAISC. Next - service provider arrangements |
