FranchisesA part of the commissioning arrangements involves franchises, these are in effect very special commissioned service providers. There are several types of franchises, some are arrangements to in effect manage an area of activity for the New Atlantis family as in the case of Property Club International, managing joint venture consortiums or Business Club International managing service provider recruitment. A second area others may be involved in is promoting the expansion of a club or service in an area and finding initial service providers, undertaking initial promotion of the club or project and the like. They undertake this usually at their own expense. They also act as first level trouble-shooters to sort out problems with the service providers that they have found. All service providers report via joint venture consortiums or through Business Club International and not through the franchises, so the franchises don't have to undertake routine administration or concern themselves with the clubs service provision, beyond what they are asked to undertake. These franchises may be layered, for example for a club we might set up a national franchise to cover a large country like the USA, and the role of this franchise holder is to find franchises in each state, and this second level of franchises then look for specific service providers and promote the club in the region. The national franchise holder would therefore be finding, organizing, training and supporting this second level of franchises. This second role of franchises has in some cases been replaced by packaging, where a consortium will be formed to take on a similar role. Franchises are negotiated individually with us, and each is in effect a separate commissioned contractual arrangement, usually income is based on turnover through the franchised area and that the franchise has to cover its own expenses. It will normally have an agreed set of objectives and an agreed plan of action. There may be a franchise fee at the beginning, an annual license fee or some form of deposit, this deposit may be returned once the minimal level of performance has been met. The objective of these is not to produce income for the club, but to put off people from the idea of collecting franchises for future development and those that are not intending to carry out the task as agreed with them. If you are interested in a franchise then please let us know and we will look with you at what is coming available that might interest you. We are considering adding a section to this website or creating another website specifically for franchises to detail what is available and coming up shortly. However also take a look at the exchange website of Property Club International www.property-club.org to see if the area that interests you is being developed as a joint venture consortium project, also consider if it could be a task that would be more appropriately provided under service provider arrangements and in this case perhaps Business Club International would be a better starting point. |
